PURPOSE: To promptly detect the displacement of wind, etc. and carry out wind-up by detecting the displacement of each member installed on a fixed portion to wind up a canvas and providing a photoelectric element and a reflector opposite to this on the fixed portion.

CONSTITUTION: An awning device has a pair of arms 16 expandably/contactibly installed on a fixed portion 7, a wind-up pipe 13 rotatably installed on the fixed portion 7, a front frame 17 provided between the ends 16b of the arms 16, and a canvas 14 provided between the front frame 17 and wind-up pipe 13. The safety device of the awning device is formed so as to detect the variation of each member installed on the fixed portion 7 and wind up the canvas 14. A photoelectric element 9 is provided on the fixed portion 7 while providing a reflector 15 so as to be opposite to the photoelectric element 9 on each member installed on the fixed portion 7. Thereby, the displacement of wind, etc. can be promptly detected without impairing the appearance of the device itself.
