Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent any hazard when shoes happen to be caught in a skirt guard by means of a travelling mobile piece and a switch for detecting the displacement of the mobile piece provided in a notch section arranged on the skirt guard.
CONSTITUTION: Fitted into a notch section 9 provided on a part of a skirt guard 8, a mobile piece 10 moves along a guide 11. On the other hand, in case shoes or foreign matters are caught in the guard, the pressure by the foreign matters causes the mobile piece 10 to be pushed to actuate a switch 13. In this manner, the operation of an escalator can be suspended immediately.
