PURPOSE: To prevent an operator from being run over by a hand truck even if the operator of a hand truck falls down at retreating.

CONSTITUTION: In a hand truck in which a handle rod 2 for walking operation and a control operating tool 3 are provided or the rear part of an under carriage, a safety bumper 5 extending in the right and left directions of the under carriage is provided on the position in the vicinity of rotational movement center height of a running wheel body 4 and projected to the rearward of the under carriage, the safety bumper 5 is made movable front and rear, and accompanying the frontward movement, movement of the under carriage is changed to running stop or crawling advance at retreat running of the under carriage.
