Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of a passenger conveyor that can detect instantaneously falling of a passenger.SOLUTION: The safety device of a passenger conveyor is provided in a passenger conveyor equipped with a plurality of footsteps which are endlessly connected, circulate and move, balustrades standingly provided on both sides of the footsteps and moving handrails which are supported on uppers parts of the balustrades and move in synchronization with the footsteps, which is provided with a laser scan sensor arranged so that a scan direction thereof is along inclined parts of the moving handrails, and announces whether operation speed of the passenger conveyor should be reduced or the conveyor should be stopped based on output of the laser scan sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
