To provide a safety mechanism capable of keeping a state of catching an obstacle when catching the obstacle even if a driving part is operated to some extent to prevent a mechanically generated load from being applied to the obstacle.
A sliding frame 4 is disposed to be movable forward/backward inside a base frame 3 attached to a bed frame of a bed, and a back support frame 9, a leg support frame and a lumbar support frame 7 are disposed via a raising mechanism and retracting means to be operated as interlocking with the forward/backward movement of the sliding frame. Accordingly, when the sliding frame 4 is located at the front end of the base frame 3, a same flat plane is formed by the support frames, and when the sliding frame 4 is located at the rear side of the base frame 3, the back support frame 9 is erected and the leg support frame is retracted under the lumbar support frame so that the bed becomes a chair state. The bed has the safety mechanism structured to prevent a load mechanically generated in each support frame from being applied to the obstacle if there is the obstacle on the lower surface of the support frame.
