Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the sail structure, by which operation is facilitated, large operating force is not required, and propulsion efficiency is made excellent.
CONSTITUTION: In a sail structure in which a main sail 6 is held by a boom 4 fitted to a hull in such a manner as to oscillate within the horizontal plane and a mast 5 supported on the boom 4, the boom 4 is extended backward from a support shaft 17 which becomes the center of oscillation, and also projected forward, the mast 5 is integrated with the front end part of the forward projected part so that the lower end part of the mast is supported on the boom, and the center 60 of lift of the main sail 6 is made adjacent to the axis 61 of oscillation of the boom 4.
