PURPOSE: To enable a sailing ship to be safely passed even below a bridge with a mast being simply lowered, by providing a sail set cradle movably in the longitudinal driection of the hull of the ship and mounting the mast to the sail set cradle, movably in the vertical direction.

CONSTITUTION: A sail set cradle 4 is movably mounted on rails 1 laid in the longitudinal direction of a hull, and has vertical parts 4a, 4b vertically movably attached with a supporting beam 5 with a mast 6 through a rack and pinion mechanism. When the ship passes below a bridge, it may safely pass only by lowering the supporting beam 5 to the lowest position. Further, cargo handling from a hatch 3 may be easily made by moving the cradle 4 in either longitudinal direction of the ship.
