Title:
SAILING SHIP INCLUDING ERECTING/TILTING TYPE SAIL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011230663
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a sailing ship including an erecting/tilting type sail capable of being tilted during non-use of the sail or bad weather.

A sail support device 10 includes a first drive unit for erecting/tilting the sail 1 to a mast 2, and a second drive unit for rotating and driving the mast 2 around a mast center line 20. The sail 1 is made of a hard or soft sail and the sail 1 is stuck to a frame body (extending body) 3 for mounting the sail 1. The extending body 3 includes a slit part 5 extending in a direction of the mast 2. In an upper end part of the mast 2 in the slit part 5, the sail 1 and the extending body 3 (hereinafter collectively referred to as a sail extending body 4) are hinge-connected to be erected and tilted to the mast 2. The hinge part 6 constitutes a support point of the sail extending body 4. The position of the support point (hinge part) 6 is not especially limited to an intermediate position of the height of the sail 1 as shown in Fig, and is required to be just a middle position between an upper end and a lower end of the height of the sail 1.
