To obtain the subject composition capable of giving a polymerizable decomposition composition again in the case of its decomposition by uniformly dispersing a sugar or a sugar derivative in a matrix of an inorganic oxide, and having an excellent biodegradable property in the case of filling in a ground by making the composition ratio of the sugar as large.
This sugar/inorganic compounded composition is obtained by uniformly dispersing a sugar or a sugar derivative [sugar (derivative)] in an inorganic oxide matrix. As the sugar (derivatives), cellulose, cellulose esters and chitosan are preferable. Among the cellulose esters, cellulose acetate is preferable in view of its cost. As the inorganic oxide, generally silica and alumina can be used. The objective composition is obtained by using a sol-gel method of performing a hydrolytic polymerization of a hydrolytically polymerization compound such as a tetraalkoxy silane under the addition of the sugar (derivative) and gelation for preparing the compounded material in which the sugar (derivative) is dispersed in the matrix of a silica gel.
