To provide a method for producing a salt-shrunk wild silkworm or wool and to provide a method for producing the salt-shrunk wild silkworm and the wool and to provide an antimicrobial fiber material and an active substance-carrying fiber material by utilizing the salt-shrunk wild silkworm or wool.
The wild silkworm or wool is immersed in an aqueous solution of a neutral salt and then, the taken out wild silkworm or wool is immersed in a coagulating bath to provide the salt-shrunk wild silkworm or wool. Wool in which intermolecular or intramolecular hydrogen bond is cloven by immersion treatment in the aqueous solution of urea is used as the wool. The neutral salt is e.g. lithium bromide or calcium nitrate. The coagulating bath is composed of water alone or a mixed aqueous solution of water with an alcohol. An antimicrobial metal ion or an active substance is adsorbed into the salt-shrunk wild silkworm or wool.
