Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to select any one of three ways of playing a samisen i.e. normal live performance, performance with sound increased by a loudspeaker and performance with sound muffled for listening the sound by an earphone or a headset.
SOLUTION: A vibration control plate 6 whose area is slightly smaller than the area of an outer layer skin 3 of the samisen, is arranged in the inner surface side of the skin 3 of a body 1 and is formed in parallel with the skin 3. The vibration control plate 6 is usually separated from the inner surface of the skin 3 by coil springs 15. A pickup 21 is arranged on the back surface of the skin 3 and positioned in a notch section 10 provided on the peripheral surface of the plate 6 to convert vibration of the skin 3 into electric signals. When the samisen is muffled, a motor 17 is operated to rock a lever 20 and the plate 6 is pressed against the skin 3 by the tip of the lever.
