To provide a method of transferring specimens to sample carriers, and to provide a suitable sample carrier that includes a structural array which supports two or more sample nodes.
The sample carrier includes the structural array and the two or more sample nodes. Each of the two or more sample nodes is removably attached to the structural array at a respective attachment point and is operative to carry a discrete sample which can be biological, including proteins, polynucleotides, and DNA. One embodiment is disclosed wherein the sample carrier includes two or more structural arrays which can be supported in predetermined spatial relations, relative to respective sample containers (for example, respective wells of a multi-well plate). The system and method of transferring the specimens to the sample carriers include a step of bringing the two or more sample nodes into contact with the specimens. Various embodiments are disclosed wherein the specimens are solid, gaseous, and liquid in form.
