PURPOSE: To provide a sample gas concentrator efficiently concentrating sample gas in low concn. to achieve the reduction of an analytical time and the enhancement of analytical accuracy and capable of easily corresponding to an automation demand.
CONSTITUTION: The sample gas in low concn. collected from a vehicle is passed through the trap pipe arranged in a Dewar vessel 41 filled with liquid nitrogen before introduced into a gas chromatography analyzer 60. The trap pipe is cooled to extremely low temp. by liquid nitrogen and the sample gas is condensed in the trap pipe. Thereafter, a discharge passage 42 is opened to rapidly discharge liquid nitrogen and a current is supplied to the heater pipe 50H externally fitted to the trap pipe to heat the same and the condensed sample gas is rapidly evaporated. By this constitution, the sample gas is conc. and introduced into the aformenetioned analyzer 60 along with the carrier gas introduced into the trap pipe to be accurately analyzed.
