To provide a sample piece recovery system and a sample piece recovery method that can identify which cast piece a sample piece was taken from and achieve space-saving when recovering a sample piece from multiple cast pieces continuously casted in a continuous casting facility.SOLUTION: A sample piece recovery system comprises: a conveying part 10 extending along a conveying direction intersecting a casting direction, and configured to send, toward downstream in the conveying direction, a first sample piece being cut off from a first cast piece and a second sample piece being cut off from a second cast piece; a recovery container 20 that is located near the most downstream end of the conveying part, and includes a first area and a second area on which the first sample piece and the second sample piece are placed, respectively; and a change part configured to change a position or a posture of the collection container so that the first area is adjacent to the most downstream end when the first sample piece falls from the most downstream end and the second area is adjacent to the most downstream end when the second sample piece falls from the most downstream end.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
