Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample tube holder in an automatic humor analyzer for detecting fracture of sample tubes, and to provide a sample tube fracture detector, gripper apparatus, and object raising and lowering apparatus.
SOLUTION: The contractable and extendable sample tube holder includes a housing provided with a plurality of adjacent fragment members for moving in such a way as to be separated from and close to each other. Spring members normally maintain the fragment members in an extended state. In a contracted state, the intervals between the fragment members are reduced. The sample tube fracture detector for the sample tube holder includes plungers slidable between an extended location corresponding to fractured test tubes and a retreated location corresponding to unfractured test tubes in the test tube holder. The detector compares the locations of the plungers before and after rotary operation of a centrifuge for detecting the fractured test tubes in the test tube holder. The gripper apparatus for gripping the test tube holder includes an elevating probe, which is provided with both an eccentric lower end part operable for holding the test tube holder and a stabilizer for stabilizing the test tube holder during elevation. The gripper apparatus and the fracture detector are raised and lowered by the raising and lowering apparatus with first and second extending and contracting members.
