To provide a sampling device and a method suitable for gathering a sample such as underground water, sludge and a gel-like substance for a water quality investigation, a soil investigation and an underground cavity blocking-up investigation by gel.
This sampling device is composed of a sampler outer case 11 for gathering the sample such as the underground water, the sludge and the gel-like substance after the excavation of a predetermined depth, inserted into an excavated hole and forming an opening capable of making the sample flow in an outer peripheral part, a sampler 30 arranged in this sampler outer case 11, opening one end and gathering and storing the sample inside, a blocking-up member 50 inserted into a lower part of the sampler outer case 11 and engageable with and disengageable from one end of the sampler 30, and a load applying means 40 movably arranged in the sampler outer case 11 and engaging the sampler 30 with the blocking-up member 50 by applying a load to the other end of the sampler 30.
