PURPOSE: To sample molten iron automatically through a simple mechanism by providing a sampling and collecting means to a long-sized sampling rod, and moving forth and back the sampling rod axially and putting the collecting means in and out of a furnace.
CONSTITUTION: The molten iron 14 in a foundry ladle is sampled with a sampling collector 18. This collector 18 is fitted at the top of the sampling rod 20, which is held by a support mechanism 38 so that it is moved forth and back axially. The support mechanism 38 is fitted to the arm 28 of a column 26 with a pin and slanted by the movement of a movable rod 36. Then, the rod 20 is extended to sample the molten iron at a position A by the collector 18 and moved back, and the rod 20 is slanted by the movable rod 36 to move the collector 18 to a position C or D, taking out the sample. Thus, the rod is moved forth and back and slanted, so sampling is performed automatically by the collector and manual difficult operation is unneeded.
