Abstract:

To prevent unnecessary discharge at a side surface of a boat-shaped electric discharge machining electrode in a sampling device for a structure in a nuclear reactor in which the electric discharge machining electrode connected to a rotary shaft is gradually rotated in reactor water for cutting part of a surface layer of the structure in the nuclear reactor by electric discharge machining.

A device is provided with either one of an inner step 74 having a step on the inner side of an electric discharge machining electrode, both side steps 75 having steps on both the inner side and outer side of the electric discharge machining electrode, and an outer step 76 having a step on the outer side of the electric discharge machining electrode, a film 78 of nonconductive material is formed on a side surface of the electric discharge machining electrode except for a consumption range by machining, thereby unnecessary discharge on the side surface of the electric discharge machining electrode is more securely prevented.
