Abstract:
To provide a device and method for producing a sanitary tissue paper roll capable of easily executing selective formation of embossment.SOLUTION: A device for producing a sanitary tissue paper roll comprises: sheet delivery means for delivering a sheet from a raw fabric roll; an embossment processing part capable of forming embossment on the delivered sheet; and sheet winding means for winding the sheet. The embossment processing part comprises a roll set formed of: an embossment roll and a plane roll arranged separately from each other; and a backup roll selectively displaceable between a first position of contacting the embossment roll, and a second position of contacting the plane roll. When the embossment is formed on the sheet, the backup roll is displaced to the first position so as to allow the sheet to pass through a first paper passage between the backup roll and the embossment roll, and when the embossment is not formed on the sheet, the backup roll is displaced to the second position so as to allow the sheet to pass through a second paper passage between the backup roll and the plane roll.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
