To provide a satchel in which a sewn part between the lid member and the storage part of the satchel is surely reinforced and in which the sewn part is given a neat appearance.

The satchel has a storage part 12 for housing articles, wherein the storage part 12 includes a back board 14 that comes in contact with the back of a user, a pair of gussets 16, and a partition 18 that faces the back board 14. The back board 14 includes a lid member 20 that opens/closes the storage part 12 and a reinforcing piece 26 that is attached to the side edges of the lid member 20 and that wraps the sewn part between the back board 14 and the gussets 16. The reinforcing piece 26 is fabricated with a sheet cut in a prescribed shape, and includes a rectangular body 28 and a projection 30 formed integrally with the upper end of the body 28. The projection 30 includes a base end part 30a that protrudes outside in right angles relative to the upper end of the body 28 and a locking part 30b that is continuous from the tip end of the base end part 30a and that is wider than the base end part 30a. The reinforcing piece 28 is attached to the side edges of the lid member in such a manner that the base end part 30a side of the projection 30 is stitched together with the front/rear faces of both side edge parts of the back board 14.
