Abstract:

To provide a satellite signal receiver that improves reception sensitivity even by a small device and suppress an increase in power consumption, and to provide a method of controlling the same.

A wrist watch 3 with a GPS includes a GPS antenna 27, an LNA 28 as a signal amplification means, a reception part 30, a time display unit 80, and a power supply unit 90. The reception part 30 includes a GPS signal processor 60 having a signal amplification means for controlling the LNA 28. The signal amplification control means outputs an OFF signal to a control signal input terminal when the reception mode is time measuring mode, to control the LNA 28 to keep halted. When the reception mode is positioning mode, the signal amplification control means outputs an ON signal to the control signal input terminal to control the LNA 28 to keep operated.
