Abstract:
To provide a scale inhibitor and an inhibitory method for efficiently suppressing barium sulfate scale generated in an industrial water system especially in the pulp and paper industry.
The barium sulfate scale inhibitor comprises monomers including maleic acid, acrylic acid and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid in a water system of ≥PH2 preferably of PH2 to PH7, wherein the ratio of maleic acid to acrylic acid is 10:2 to 10:15 and a copolymer comprising 3-20 mol% 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid based on total monomers and/or a water-soluble salt of the copolymer is included.
