Abstract:
To provide a simple purification method of scandium that can separate both elements of thorium and uranium from an acidic solution containing scandium in one step.SOLUTION: The purification method of scandium comprises subjecting an acidic solution containing scandium to solvent extraction with use of a mixed extractant containing an isomer mixture of 16-22C tertiary alkyl primary amines and a tri-normal-octyl-amine to be separated into an extraction residual liquid containing scandium and an extractant after the extraction. As a mixed extractant, one containing the tri-normal-octyl-amine in a ratio of 20 vol% to less than 100 vol% based on the isomer mixture of 16-22C tertiary alkyl primary amines is particularly preferred.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
