Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner and its control method that can realize a copy function, without the use of a host computer in a multifunctional system, comprising a printer, the scanner and the host computer.
SOLUTION: The scanner 102 for obtaining image data by reading an image of an original has a parallel port 105 as a communication means for communication with the printer 103. Then the scanner 102 converts the read image data into print data expressed in the page description language which can be interpreted by the printer 103 and outputs the prints data to the printer 103 via the parallel part 105. Furthermore, the scanner 102 can be connected to the host computer 102 via the parallel port 102 and transmit the read image data to the host computer.
