To provide an endoscopic system not for obtaining an image from a viewpoint at the distal end of an insertion tube but for obtaining the image as a plane developed image by scanning around the inner wall of the digestive tract facing the wall surface of the insertion tube.

The endoscopic system 100 comprises the insertion tube part 30, the distal end part 10, an optical system built therein, and a control part 40. The endoscopic system also has a thin film type area scanner 20. The tube-shaped thin film type area scanner 20 is provided to circle on the wall surface of the insertion tube 30 near the distal end 10, and has an image reading surface circling on the wall surface of the insertion tube 30 near the distal end 10. The casing of the thin film type area scanner 20 is rotatable to the wall surface of the insertion tube 30 in the direction of circling on the wall surface. For example, the thin film type area scanner is hexagonal-tube-shaped, and each face of the hexagon is the image reading surface. The angle of rotation of the casing of the thin film type area scanner 20 has prescribed grades, and the images read at the grades of the rotation angle are composed to make one plane developed image of the inner wall of the digestive tract.
