To speed up a specimen observation using a scanning confocal microscope.
The scanning confocal microscope 100 includes: a galvano mirror 4 by which an illuminating light ray for illuminating a specimen 1 is caused to scan on the specimen 1 in a scanning direction; a converging lens 8 and cylindrical lens array 9 by which the illuminating light emitted by a laser light source 6 is divided in the scanning direction and the division illuminated light rays are condensed in the scanning direction; and a micro-mirror array 5 disposed on the conjugate face of the specimen 1 and reflecting at least part of each division illuminating light ray, condensed by the converging lens 8 and cylindrical array 9, to the galvano mirror 4. The galvano mirror 4 allows respective illuminating light rays reflected on the mirror-mirror array 5 to scan all together on the specimen 1 in the scanning direction.
