PURPOSE: To detect a signal level accurately by giving a different voltage to each photodiode and reducing the overlap of output signal currents of each bit.
CONSTITUTION: When a step voltage Vdr rises stepwise to each step voltage Vi, a 1st diode DW1 are switched and a current charging the capacitance of a photodiode PD1 flows to a photodiode PD1. In this case, voltages Vtp1-Vpt10 applied to photodiodes PD1-PD10 respectively at this time rise simultaneously at the step voltages V1-V10 and applied separately surely. Since the output signal current of the photodiodes PD1-PD10 is outputted separately to an output common line 1 for each prescribed time, the superposition of the output signal current for each bit is reduced. Thus, the signal level is detected accurately.
