Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a scanning optical device which has a detecting means capable of realizing picture quality improvement and miniaturization due to the best arrangement of a photodetector for obtaining a scanning start signal for the scanning timing of a light beam in a scanning optical device which scans an image formation surface with the light beam to form an image. CONSTITUTION:The light beam passing through a 1st image formation optical system composed of a semiconductor laser 1, a collimator lens 2, and a cylindrical lens 3, and a polygon mirror 4 is inputted to the detecting means composed of a 1st ftheta lens 5 and a 2nd ftheta lens 6 not through a 2nd image formation optical system composed of a 1st ftheta lens 5 and a 2nd ftheta lens 6. The scanning start signal for the scanning timing is obtained by this detecting means.
