PURPOSE: To increase a finishing surface precision of a ground work by providing a land grinding means and a rake surface or a flank grinding means.
CONSTITUTION: The device is provided with an axial line hold means 30 holding the axial line of the cylindrical section of a scalping cutter as a rotating axis, a land surface grinding means 40 forming a land surface, which is a part of a cylindrical surface formed around the axial line, into a cutting edge section, and with an edge surface grinding means 50 grinding either one of the rake surface and the flank of the cutting edge section or both the rake surface and the flank. This constitution thereby makes it uneccessary to transfer a scalping cutter to another grinding device, enables grinding to be kept on while its rotating axial line is being kept fixed, and prevents its cutting edge from fluctuating, so that the cutting precision of the scalping cutter is thereby enhanced.
