Abstract:
A scavenging/straightening structure for a marine diesel engine, which is one aspect of the present invention, comprises: a cylinder liner that constitutes a tube part of a cylinder in which a piston reciprocates, and that has a scavenging port higher than the piston at bottom dead center; a cylinder jacket that has an opening part enabling communication between the scavenging port and a scavenging trunk into which compressed air for combustion is fed, and that supports the cylinder liner; and a straightening vane interposed between the cylinder liner and the cylinder jacket in at least one position above and below the scavenging port. The straightening vane straightens the flow of air for combustion, which has flowed from the scavenging trunk through the opening part into an internal space of the cylinder jacket, so that the flow is directed toward the scavenging port.
