Abstract:

To detect radiation in an oil well logging configured to shut off thermal neutrons from the sensor part of a device.

A scintillation detector includes an approximately cylindrical crystalline element 12 mounted inside an approximately cylindrical housing 70, with one end of the housing connected to a photomultiplier tube 72. The approximately cylindrical crystalline element has gadolinium foil 38 wound around its outer peripheral surface.
