PURPOSE: To make the holding and removal of scraps performable at will as well as to aim at automation in the whole lot of machining inclusive of both primary and secondary machining stages, by constituting a scrap holder in a way of setting up plural electromagnets in a rigid body holder so as to cause polarity in a work body contact surface to alternate N and S.
CONSTITUTION: A scrap holder 1 is set to a specified position by a robot arm 2 at a holder setting timing position, feeding each of electromagnets 3W4' with power, and a scrap 14 is attracted by the electromagnet 3 while a fixed part of a work 12 is also attracted by these electromagnets 4 and 4'. With this constitution, even if the scrap 14 is separated from the work 12 at a machining end position, the scrap 14 is held by the electromagnet 3. Excitation in these electromagnets 4 and 4' is released free, and the holder 1 is moved to some extent as leaving the scrap 14 held intact, whereby scraps are removed. Thus, the holding and removal of scraps are performable at will.
