PURPOSE: To realize the printing for the wide-screen type display screen via the single-screen type display screen printer by giving the conversion between the vertical and horizontal bit development for the display screen of the wide-screen type.

CONSTITUTION: Now one character is composed of 32×32 bits, and one line contains 32 characters in the single-screen type and 64 characters contained in one line for the wide-screen type respectively. Address counter 31 is driven to supply the data corresponding to pattern memory 2 to multiplexer 35 via data compound circuit 34. In this case, the horizontal scanning is given in the order of XOYO... Y31YO and XOY1..., and the data of vertical Y address are read out in the timing of 32 bits with every X address and in the order of XOY1023... XOY1 and XOYO. These data read out are memorized temporarily into data register 38 and then applied to hard copy device 4.
