To improve work efficiency of a screw compressor.
The screw compressor, sucking and compressing gas to be compressed for discharge to the outside, includes: a male rotor and a female rotor held in meshing engagement with each other; a mechanism for rotating the male rotor and the female rotor; a casing accommodating therein the male rotor and the female rotor; a bore portion formed in the casing to cover toothed portions of the male rotor and the female rotor; a plurality of working chambers formed in mating portions between a male toothed groove of the male rotor and a female toothed recess of the female rotor; and axial intake ports formed in the bore portion on a side at which gas to be compressed is sucked. In a rotation angle of rotation in which the working chamber has a nearly maximum volume, the axial intake port stops communication between the outside and the female toothed groove and communication between the outside and the male toothed groove in this order.
