PURPOSE: To improve the control of earth moving and the control accuracy of facing earth pressure, and to stabilize earth-moving operation by a method wherein one end is opened in the front ends of a shielding machine, a pipe body is installed, and a screw auger is arranged inside the pipe body and rotated and driven by a drive.
CONSTITUTION: One end is opened in the front end sections of a shielding machine 10 and a pipe body 20 is mounted, and a screw auger 21 is disposed and borne rotatably on the same axis in the pipe body 20. A drive 22 is arranged on another end side of the pipe body 20, and a shaft member 24 is set up detachably along the central axis of the screw auger 21. When a bed consists of gravel having large size, the shaft member 24 is removed from the screw auger 21, and muck is discharged. When the bed is composed of fine grained soils at that time, the shaft member 24 is set up along the central axis of the screw auger 21, and muck is discharged. Accordingly, the shaft member 24 is mounted or dismantled in response to the bed, and a screw conveyor for the shielding machine can correspond to the characteristics of soil constituting the bed.
