PURPOSE: To obtain a compact structure easy to assemble for a screw down device of a brush roll.

CONSTITUTION: In the case of a device to screw down a brush roll 1 against a work roll 2 of a roll stand to hot roll above all aluminum, the brush roll is rotatable in the adverse direction of rotation of the work roll, is capable of sliding translatably in parallel with the work roll 2, and is supported on both sides by a swingable support member 10. A swinging bearing 12 of the support member 10 of each brush roll is arranged on a work roll chock 4. The support member 10 is equipped with a swinging lever 11 which is located between a controllable actuating element 13 and a restoring support element 14. The actuating element 13 is mounted in the balancing block or a bending block 9, and the support element 14 is mounted in the working roll chock 4.
