Title:
SCROLL CHUCK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP62114805
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To keep work chucking force constant as well as to aim at preventing a work from being damaged, by installing a Belleville spring interposingly between a swivel collar and a flange part inner surface of a scroll, in case of a scroll chuck for chucking the work in a machine tool or the like.

CONSTITUTION: When a swivel collar 4 of a chuck is rotated clockwise, a scroll 2 is rotated by frictional force of a Belleville spring 6, and all chuck jaws 3 move in the radial direction and clamp a work owing to an engaging relationship between the spool grove 21 formed in a flange part 22 of the scroll 2 and the spool projection 31 formed in the backside of these chuck jaws 3. Here, after chucking the work if the swivel collar 4 is rotated, there is produced as slip on the Belleville spring 6 and an inner surface of the flange part 22 or a contact surface of the swivel collar 4 so that the swivel collar 4 alone races. That is to say, the Belleville spring 6 functions as a torque limiter, and since these jaws clamp the work with constant chucking force, damage and deformation in the work is in no case entailed at all.
