To actualize higher efficiency by improving sealing performance in gaps between compression chambers without a great change in the design of a lap, to improve reliability by securing an oil film, and to suppress an increase in cost.
A crescent shaped compression chamber 11 is formed momentarily when a second compression chamber 11b encloses refrigerant, where the lap thickness of a fixed scroll lap 6b on a suction side is greater than the lap thickness near a lap starting portion 6d. The radial area of a gap between a fixed scroll lap upper face 6e, as a seal face between a second compression chamber 11c as one-preceding second one and a suction chamber 13, and a rotary scroll lap supporting disc 9b is increased and the leakage of the refrigerant is reduced, which thereby improves volume efficiency and compression efficiency. A sliding area is increased to lower contact pressure on the fixed scroll lap upper face 6e and the rotary scroll lap which supported disc 9b, suppresses discontinuation of the oil film.
