To provide a scroll compressor attaining high efficiency while securing high reliability over a wide operation range from high load operation to low load operation.
In the scroll compressor, a fixed scroll 12 and a turning scroll 13 each having a spiral wrap standing up from an end plate are meshed with each other to form compression chambers between them, and when the turning scroll is engaged with an eccentric shaft part coupled to a crankshaft and is turned under the regulation of rotation by a rotation regulating mechanism, the compression chambers are moved while varying the capacities to suck in and discharge working fluid. A ring-shaped groove 30 is provided in a sliding surface of the fixed scroll 12 with the end plate of the turning scroll 13 and the groove 30 is formed so that more than half of an outer peripheral corner part 13a of the end plate of the turning scroll 13 lies outside the outer periphery 30a of the groove 30.
