Abstract:

To provide a scroll type compressor equipped with a motor as a driving source to drive a refrigerant compressing mechanism capable of effectively reducing the sliding resistance by regulating the force applied to a movable scroll to a proper value.

The scroll type compressor 100 includes a center housing 4 furnished with a throttle passage 97 to put a motor chamber 45 in communication with the suction part of the compressing mechanism 21. A refrigerant introduced to the motor chamber 45 through an introducing passage 94 moves to a suction part via the throttle passage 97. The throttle passage 97 has a shape with its section area squeezed to smaller than the introducing passage 94. As the rate of refrigerant flow moving from the motor chamber 45 to the suction part via the throttle passage 97 is throttled, the internal pressure of the motor chamber 45 is regulated to a specified intermediate value between the pressures of the sucked refrigerant and discharged refrigerant. This causes giving a force Fb to press the rear face 20a of the movable scroll 20 in the direction toward the front face.
