PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scum removal method capable of making scum-contaminated water made to flow to a flow passage formed with a trough into the suitable one.SOLUTION: There is provided a scam removal method where, using a scum removal device 10 in which scum-contaminated water contaminated with scum floating on the water face of a precipitation pond 1 is flowed to outside of the precipitation pond 1, the scum is removed, including: a taking-in step where the upper edge part 11a of a weir 11 is maintained to a position of being sunk from the water face to the inside of the weir in a prescribed distance even if the water position of the precipitation pond 1 is changed, and the scum-contaminated water on the upstream side than the upper edge part 11a of the weir 11 is taken into the downstream side than the upper edge part 11a of the weir 11 over the upper edge part 11a of the weir 11; and an inflow sep where the scum-contaminated water taken into the downstream side than the upper edge part 11a of the weir 11 is made to flow from an inflow port 125 to a trough 12 in a state where a cover body 14 is opened during the performing of the taking-in step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
