PURPOSE: A sealant having a relaxed internal stress and a high glass transition temperature, containing a glycidyl ether of an unsaturated aldehyde/phenol condensate and a curing agent.
CONSTITUTION: A sealant composition containing a glycidyl ether of an unsaturated aldehyde/phenol condensate and a curing agent. Examples of the unsaturated aldehydes which can be suitably used include acrolein, methacrolein, and crtonaldehyde. Examples of the curing agents which can be suitably used include novolak phenol and a vinylphneol. An inorganic filler such as silica, clay, or glass fiber, a cure accelerator such as imidazole and an internal releasing agent such as stearic acid are usually added. The curing agent is added in such an amount that the number of moles of the functional groups of the curing agent is equal to that of the epoxy groups of the glycidyl ether of an unsaturated aldehyde/phenol condensate.
