To provide a sealed battery increasing the pouring property and impregnation property of an electrolyte while keeping the shapes of a battery element and a battery outer packaging, and suppressing the variations in characteristics and process failure while keeping the energy density of the battery.
The sealed battery is formed by: laminating a positive electrode plate 1 in which a positive electrode mix layer is formed on a positive electrode current collector 1a and a negative electrode plate in which a negative electrode mix layer is formed on a negative electrode current collector through a separator 2; winding the laminated body; sticking a winding stop tape on a battery element that is a laminated body wound; and then housing the battery element in an outer packaging case. An outermost peripheral part of the battery element is composed of a positive electrode current collector exposure part where the positive electrode mix layer is not formed, and vacancy hole parts 1c are formed in the positive electrode current collector exposure part in the outermost peripheral part.
