Abstract:
To provide a sealed honeycomb structure and a method for manufacturing the sealed honeycomb structure, capable of taking a desired end shape according to a purpose and use, restrained from the degradation in purifying performance and strength through shape working, and excelling in material yield and cost.
The sealed honeycomb structure 20 for a diesel particulate filter has a plurality of cells 5 partitioned with partition walls 6 to become fluid passages, and the adjacent cells 5 being sealed at one ends to be the opposite side to each other. A notch part 2 is provided at part of a fluid flow end, and the flow end of the predetermined cell 5 constituting the notch part 2 is also sealed.
