PURPOSE: To prevent electrolyte splash out and short circuit within a battery caused by expansion of positive plate resulting in charge-discharge cycles by forming a connecting part and a plate pressing projection together with resin bodies surrounding post terminals.
CONSTITUTION: Polyolefin resin bodies 2a, 2a' surrounding sheet-shaped post terminals 1a, 1b, a connecting part 2b, and a plate pressing projection 10 are molded in one body by injection molding. The post terminals 1a, 1b are welded to a plate group 6 comprising a positive plate 3, a negative plate 4, and a separator 5. The plate group 6 is inserted into a bag-like outer jacket 8 comprising a synthetic resin laminate from an opening 8a of the bottom, and polyolefin resin bodies 2a, 2a' and openings 8b, 8b' of the outer jacket 8 are sealed by hot-melt-bonding. Electrolyte is poured from an opening 3d of a protruding part 8c serving as a safety valve. The connecting part 2b serves as an electrolyte splash prevention plate, and the plate pressing projection 10 prevents the expansion in a height direction of the positive plate 10 to prevent short circuit.
