Abstract:
To provide a sealed tensioner without an unwanted loss in an engine.SOLUTION: A sealed tensioner 100 includes: a body 106 having a high-pressure chamber 104; a low-pressure reservoir 112 that is in fluid communication with the high-pressure chamber through a fluid conduit; a piston 102 that is received by the body and moves axially to compress fluid in the high-pressure chamber; a seal 126 that is positioned between the piston and the body and prevents passage of fluid from the high-pressure chamber between the piston and the body; and a check valve 116 regulating the fluid flow between the low-pressure reservoir and the high-pressure chamber, and including a stiffness control aperture.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
