To provide a sealing device using a seal ring whose sealing performance is improved enough to practically prevent the permeability and leakage of pressurized CO2.
In the connection sections 13 and 16 of the two housings 12 and 15 surrounding a space in which pressurized carbon dioxide exists, in order to prevent the permeability and the leakage of the CO2, a ring-shaped seal ring 11 is used. In this case, the ring-shaped seal ring 11 has a long compressed shape in the direction of the joint between the connection sections 13 and 16 as if the shape of the cross section is originally elliptical in such a non-load state that any external force does not work and is compressed between the two housings 12 and 15, as a result, it becomes a seal ring 11' having a cross section of further compressed shape. Even if the CO2 tends to permeate the seal ring 11' for permeation, since the permeable distance and cross section area are longer and reduced than those in conventional O-rings respectively, the CO2 cannot permeate easily.
