PURPOSE: To seal a wire joint efficiently by arranging rectangular extruded adhesive seal pieces on a long separator and laminating rectangular insulating film pieces thereon to prepare a seal member and then abutting the seal member on a wire joint thereafter peeling off the long separator.
CONSTITUTION: A long adhesive seal band 20 extruded through an extruder 4 is cut into rectangular adhesive seal pieces 2 which are then arranged on a long separator 1 running in the perpendicular direction. Before or after transfer of the adhesive seal pieces 2 (the drawing shows transferred seal pieces), rectangular insulating film pieces 3 slightly larger than the adhesive seal pieces 2 are laminated thereon to form a wire joint sealing material 4. The insulating film pieces 3 and the adhesive seal pieces 2 are then applied to a wire joint B of a wire unit and only the long separator 1 is peeled off thereafter the wire joint B is pressed by means of a die. Consequently, formation of the sealing material 4 and the sealing work are carried out continuously.
