Title:
SEAMLESS GOLF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03140168
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase the number of dimple patterns and enable optimum use of the ball surface by providing a golf ball having many dimples on the spherical outer surface, and making all of circles drawn on the spherical outer surface cross one or more dimples. CONSTITUTION: Plural dimples are provided on a golf ball 10, and the dimples are arranged in a repeat pattern corresponding to the projection of sides 20 of a polyhedron on the surface of the ball. The respective great circles 30 intersect at least some dimples. At least one of the great circles 30 substantially divide all of crossing dimples into two equal parts, and one great circle 30 substantially dividing the dimple into two equal parts corresponds to a parting line of a mold. It is advantageous to arrange the dimples on the spherical surface of the ball in a repeat pattern, and it is preferable to determine the pattern by projecting the sides of a polyhedron on the spherical surface. As an example of polyhedrons, cited are dotriacontahedron, an eicosahedron, a dodecahedron, and a regular hexahedron.
