To provide a seamless pipe made of molybdenum, which has a higher recrystallization temperature, higher radial crushing strength each before and after recrystallization, and a more excellent high-temperature resistance (hanging down resistance) in a horizontal-position than the seamless pipe made of pure molybdenum has, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.
The seamless steel pipe 5 made of molybdenum is formed from an ingot which includes at least one form of lanthanum or lanthanum oxide of 0.10 to 1.0 mass% in terms of lanthanum element, and the balance substantially molybdenum. The pipe 5 has a layered structure composed of long and thin crystal grains which have an aspect ratio of 3 per square millimeter or higher by average in the longitudinal cross section, after having been recrystallized.
